makers of teeny tiny art: I SALUTE YOU!!!

i have been fascinated by inchies for awhile...but you know ME...i don't really work i couldn't imagine that i'd ever get into *making* them. but then, a while ago, i saw this card that my lovely blogging friend ruby made. and i checked out this link she posted to art junk girl's fabulous 1000 squares project (so called b/c...YEAH...she made *1000* distinct and different inchies last year!!!!!) more recently, i saw this card on my friend and fellow CAARDVARK jen's blog, and it reminded me about the others and i thought, "ok fine. i gotta TRY this. if only to prove i can't do it!" :) but much to my turned out i COULD do it!!! of course, it took me a while (& you know i'm never fast at the best of times!) plus, i think i wound up getting out 95% of my supplies, just looking for stuff that went together AND was small enough. but eventually i had a grid of inchies (in a love theme to mark my sister's sixth wedding anniversary) and they looked like this:

(vintage items include text & images from a french language book, old ticket, greeting & playing cards; glossy black cardstock: ranger; clipart: anahata katkin; large chipboard heart: heidi swapp; small chipboard heart: fancy pants; rub-ons: mambi, creative imaginations, provocraft, 7 gypsies, oriental trading co; metal word snap & acrylic flourish: making memories; acrylic letters: joann essentials; other: dymo labeller, colorbox inks, foam tape, stickles, sharpie pen)

  1. LOVE it! I'm going to work on inchies next....I have some stamps to play with.
Hope you're getting better and better by the day :)

  2. Wowser! I love it, it's great! I started an Inchie swap on a forum I belong to, and everyone is loving it. Most of the girls participating had never made Inchies before, and thought it would be really hard. But now they're seeing how much fun they can be :)

  3. Look at you rockin' the inchies ... and what a fabulous way to personalize a card for special people ... love it!

  4. WOW....this is rather low key for a Lauren card...but I love it!!! I've been fascinated by the whole inchie thing too, but they seem so small! Of course what I needed to do was use a whole bunch of em! Very nice work Miss Lauren and I'm sure your sister will love it!!!

  5. HEYY Lauren!! You think You're bad!! I havent commented in over 12posts!!! AHHH!! But yours Stuff ROCKS!! And dood! Fr your first go at inchies... they ROCK!! I love them!! I know! how amazing is that 1000 inchies squared thangs! WOO!

Thanks for your comment! Lovely thing to wake up to :)

  6. For a looks great. I've tried different projects using them as well but I'd love to have more of the stamps that are made just for this art form. I think Ellen Hutson sells them on her site. Oh to have more time and money. Thanks again for the inspiration, I love that you're not afraid to try new things.

  7. This is lovely, Lauren, your Sis will be well chuffed (Happy Sixth to her ... tell her to get that back-scratcher in preperation for next year!). I love inches, they're so .... cute!

Shall you be making a teeny tiny inchie book any time soon, perchance?

  8. Excellent! I've admired these cards myself, recently on blogs I visit. I don't think I'm ready to try it yet :)
