my papercraftin' star has been eclipsed...

...by the next generation of crafters in my family! namely, niece madeline and her dashing sidekick matthew, who made these gorgeous cards for uncle jeff's birthday in november:

you can see that madeline (who is 6) has drawn uncle jeff with herself and her brother under a sunny sky, as well as doing quite a wonderful job of centering her hand-written greeting. the inside is equally well done with a heartfelt birthday wish and a pattern of hand-drawn xoxox's and hearts that covers the available space. i was proudly informed that not only all the writing, but also all the *spelling* was done by maddie on her own without help from mommy, which i feel is particularly impressive a mere two months into first grade!

nephew matthew (aged 3) has taken a more thematic approach, building his card around some prized handy manny stickers (matthew and uncle jeff both enjoy tools!); he has also written a greeting which mommy transcribed for us! (based on handwriting, we're pretty sure we have a future doctor here!) you'll notice he's added a decorative edge--he is MY nephew, afterall! :) this was all his own idea and his own work, in celebration of having just mastered the use of (blunt, paper only) scissors! forgive a proud auntie for pointing out that this has been done very neatly indeed: the gaps that can be seen are where the fringe has curled... nowhere has paper been accidentally removed, which i find quite extraordinary!

all that remains is for me to pass my crown to the young 'uns...which i do happily, and in recognition of their greater skill!!! ♥♥♥♥♥

  11. Z "made" Christmas cards with me last year. At least your darlings weren't all up in the glitter! (well, it's probably a good thing for their mom!)
And to get some Handy Manny stickers? Wow! Does LHJ *know* how much that's worth? :)
