We're still making slimline holiday cards at Jingle Belles with our lovely friend, Lela Meinke, and we'd love for you to join the fun!* Here's what I made this week:
Hop over to Jingle Belles to see Lela's and Stephanie's beautiful slimline designs and start planning what you'll link up with us this time!
*There's a little Slimline-Centric prize for a random cardmaker; you know, if you like that sorta thing?

Hey Skinny Santa
We're so lucky to have awesome friends at Jingle Belles. A few weeks ago, when our pal Lela Meinke came across a new-to-us holiday song, "Hey Skinny Santa" by JD McPherson she emailed us the video and the brilliant idea of using it as inspiration to make SLIMLINE holiday cards this fortnight! So that's what we're going to do!

New Class!
Lawnfawnatics (and all others!) are invited to join me at Paper Anthology, in Kenvil, NJ for my newest class, "Fawn Fun in the Summertime" a cute and colorful class featuring the tiny Lawn Fawn critters from Beary Rainy Day, Gnome Sweet Gnome and Berry Special paired with chunky Pinkfresh Studio diecut alphabets and some truly diabolical (...in a good way, lol...) puns!
We’ll make a square shaker card, a slimline and an A2 greeting. Dates available are currently Monday, June 27th from 11am to 2pm and Saturday, July 16th from 12-3pm; but stay tuned for a third date to be announced! Visit the Paper Anthology Blog or the Class Page for all the details!

Make Mine a TALL One
A tall card, that is. Which is what we used to call Slimline cards, back in the day. It's also what we're celebrating this fortnight at Shopping Our Stash, so break out your tall skinny envelopes and a few supplies you haven't used in a bit, to make a card to link up with us. Here's what I made.
When I started thinking about "Tall" cards it reminded me that I have a super cute older stamp set with a giraffe in it (technically it's "Peeking Pals" from Stampendous) that is quite fun to color with Tombows and shade with Prismacolor pencils. So much so, that I made a double set of critters in order to end up with two cards; definitely a boon going into the summer birthday season. The sentiments are from Taylored Expressions' Big Bold Birthday set, which Stephanie gave me over a year ago and I somehow never used until now. The background is one of the half dozen or so "cloud" papers I currently own... I can never resist a paper with clouds or woodgrain!
Speaking of Stephanie, she is over on the SOS blog with the rest of my awesome teamies, and they've all made fabulous slimline cards to inspire you!

Back to School!
This seems like an especially significant Back to School season, so I thought I'd make a nice big slimline card with some of my favorite school-themed Eyelet Outlet Brads.

Deckled Rainbows
Whenever I'm not sure what color to choose, I go with my all-time favorite... RAINBOW! In this case, I got a headstart from The Papercut's Poptone Variety Slimline Card Assortment, which has twenty-eight perfectly scored slimline cards in fourteen gorgeous colors; and used Tim Holtz's Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer from Tonic to make my own geometric rainbow patterns. Read all about it on The Ink Pad Blog.

Summer Vibes
Summer in New Jersey can be pretty hot and very humid, but it's still my favorite season, and here's a card that celebrates some of my favorite summer treats, in Eyelet Outlet Brad form!
I used a favorite set of bold Dina Wakley Alpha Stencils from The Ink Pad and six sizzling shades of Ranger Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick, Mermaid Lagoon, Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass, Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron to be precise) to write the word, "Summer" across my slimline-sized panel. I matted the whole thing on a piece of white cardstock covered in strips of Color Wheel Washi, then added a nice selection of brads, including: Beach Umbrella, Flip Flop Brads, Mini Ladybug, Cocktail Brads, Mini Emotion, Tall Palm, Sandcastle, Flamingo, Colored Daisy Brads, Mini Bees, Ice Cream, Sun and Pastel Sunglass Brads. I hope whatever your favorite Summer Vibes might be, that you'll enjoy a few of them today!

Life Really is Better in Flip Flops
Amongst the new Eyelet Outlet Summer Brad release are Flip Flops, which come with three colors in each pack: brown, black and hot pink. Amazingly enough for me I didn't use the pink ones first??!

Super-Soft Stenciling
Salvaged Patina may be my favorite Distress Oxide at the moment; it's fresh not-quite-blue, not-quite-green aesthetic seems like the perfect summer shade! I used Picket Fence Studios' Slim Lin Basket Petals Stencil as the background for a collage of Appree Lilac and Bracken Pressed Flower Stickers, clustered around a couple of Tim Holtz Wildflowers 2 Thinlits diecuts. You can read all about it on The Ink Pad Blog!

Happy (Almost) Father's Day
It's nearly Father's Day, but there's still a little time to make an extra-special card featuring some of the things Dads love: grillin'... (thanks to Eyelet Outlet BBQ Brads); chillin'... (courtesy of our Beer Brads); and crusin' down the highway... with our Classic Car Brads!
Here's fair warning regarding my cards for the rest of the summer: I am OBSESSED with the new Extra-Wide Sky Washi Tape! At 50mm (almost 2") you can cut a nice, long, easy-peel strip and that's the whole sky on a slimline card. I punched cardstock grass to meet it about a third of the way, et voila... instant landscape! I spelled out the central word of my "Happy Father's Day" sentiment in chunky cork alphabet stickers and clustered my BBQ Brads, Beer Brads, Classic Cars, Mini Bees, Sun and Cloud Brads around them; then added a thin yellow cardstock mat and a slightly thicker one made of Wood Washi, to serve as a frame.
There are plenty of other traditional Dad-related items in the EO Store; you could rock a Camping theme... Fishing theme... a Food and Drink theme... a Motorcycle theme... or a Tool theme; and if your Dad is less traditional, I bet we still have something fun that will work!

It's Raining Cats and Dogs...
...because we're celebrating "Fur Babies" this fortnight at Shopping Our Stash. In the process of making my card, I discovered that I own about five different narwhal stamps and die sets, but ZERO cats or dogs! How is that possible, lol?! Well anyway, I found an old pack of Simple Stories' Sn@p Stickers which had a cat, a dog, sunshine, balloons and hearts; so I was good to go.
I used a very old set of nice big chunky Recollections letter stickers and they turned out to be sooooo big and chunky I had to overlap them to make them fit on my slimline card. I think it's still readable, though, and looks quite whimsical, so let's pretend I meant to do that! The bright yellow patterned paper is a scrap of Echo Park; and I'm pretty sure the butterfly and "happy days" stickers are as well.
Be sure to check out the amazing SOS design team cards and then start planning what you will make that features "Fur Babies"!

Go Wild!
Is it just me, or are masculine cards actually harder to make than feminine ones? Maybe it's a sign that I rely too heavily on kawaii and floral images, but I definitely have to think a bit harder to make an awesome "guy card". Luckily, Dare 2B Artzy's Slim Tropical Leaf Border die set makes it very easy to create a jungle setting in slimline form! See more pics of this "WILD" card and read about the process on The Ink Pad Blog!

All Around the Town
Impression Obsession's Slim Scenes Large Town stamp set is both beautiful and useful for themes like a new home, a new job, a milestone at work, or trips into and out of your favorite city. The set has both a solid skyline stamp and an outline one, so of course I wanted to test-drive both! I've paired them with Picket Fence Studios' Slimline Nested Rectangles die set and Fancy Congratulations Sentiments stamp set; and added color with my Karin Brushmarkers. The results... in both slimline and A2 card form... are on The Ink Pad Blog today.

Birds of a Feather
I couldn't resist one more completely gratuitous shot of the bird brads staged with the foliage.

Spring Has Sprung!
Impression Obsession's line of Slim Scenes stamps are made to mix and match OR you can use them one at a time. You could, of course, use them on any sized project, but they're ideal for making beautiful slimline designs, which are still the hottest trend in cardmaking. The Spring release includes Wildflowers, Spring Sentiments, a Meadow and even a few Bunnies in Grass! Lots more pics of my three cards, plus a bit about my letterpress-inspired stamping technique on The Ink Pad Blog!

How CUUUUUTE is This?!
I'm always looking for a good excuse to break out my favorite Lawn Fawn stuff, and since I had not yet used my Car Critters without the Christmas add-on, the "How CUTE Is This?" challenge, the latest in our Creation Inspiration Weekend on the Paper Anthology Facebook Page seemed like a good time to remedy that.

Stacked Squares
It is a fact, universally acknowledged, that a cardmaker will never, ever, regret having plenty of options for making birthday cards. So a set like these simple but beautiful Happy BirthdayClear Stamps from Impression Obsession are a very good choice, since they can be used over and over again in just about ANY style and color palette imaginable. In this case I chose ink-blending for my style and RAINBOW for my palette. Read all about it (& see another version!) on The Ink Pad Blog today!
