heart the art: week 42 (BIRTHDAY)

isn't it funny how the things you most enjoy *MAKING* are not necessarily the ones that turn out the best? case in point: for HEART the ART week 42 prompt, BIRTHDAY, i decided to make a page about jeff's 50th birthday...which neither of us can quiiiiiiite believe is coming up in just over two weeks (!!!)

i used some hand-stamped numerals paper, a cake cut from an old birthday card, a photo i rescued from my phone, my trusty dymo labeller, a road sign leftover from nephew matthew's birthday banner... in short, i combined a subject that is close to my heart and a whole lot of favorite stuff... and yet the result is *not* a favorite page! go figure. but my art journal has A LOT of pages and there's still room left for more, so let's mark this one done, and ROLL ON, week 43!!! :)

  3. I think we are still complete opposites. I was thinking when I saw this, that it's one of my favorites. I love, love, love this one. Is it the colors? Is it the placement? Is it the cute guy in the center ;P
you decide, the point is, I really love this one.

  4. Hmmm...I am really not sure why you are not crazy about this page. What struck me immediately...besides that handsome guy who looks way YOUNGER than almost 50...was the dymo sentiment and the well-placed road sign! You are so clever with sentiments! I love the candles extending past the page and the subtle strip of 50s.

    Happy almost birthday to LHJ!

  8. So bright and cheery! It fits it fits! Its going great in the book and Happy Early Bday to Jeff!! I'm glad he's doing better and going to have the big bad 50 in style this year. I'm sure with a mad decorated gift bag with a possible grim reaper on it in jest? haha Love the candles on there. This is great.

  9. Oh yes he looks like Harry Connick J.R in this pic playing the piano. Is he playing the piano in this picture? Just wondering.
