'tis (technically) NOT the season!

on the other hand, "christmas in july" has become a bit of A Thing in the wonderful world of online papercrafting, so that's what we have for you this fortnight, which also happens to be our 400th challenge at shopping our stash. if you make a christmas (or hanukkah!) card and link up with us this week, that's one less you'll have to make in december, and you'll be pleased about that when the holidays roll around, trust me! there may also be a present or two involved in this shindig, but more about that in a minute. first, here's my card:

patterned paper: basic grey; chipboard: echo park; burlap flower: petaloo; velvetty flower: we r memory keepers; velvet holly leaves: 7 gypsies; round brads and poinsettia brad: eyelet outlet; ink for edging: ranger distress; adhesives: elmers brand gluetape, 3m foam tape, gluedots

i used last week's sketch saturday, even though i knew it would not be live by the time i posted this. still, it was a great sketch and a huge help getting me started! i've got nothing but elderly stash here: ancient and well-beloved basic grey papers, chipboard from (i think) the very first echo park holiday collection (or at least... the first one i ever saw, lol), older flowers with loads of texture and even some totally old skool round brads!

in the spirit of SOS and also of the holiday season, i have some super-fun blog candy to give away to one random commenter on this post. some of these goodies are old-but-unopened; a few are gently used, but all have plenty of mileage left in them! to enter the giveaway please leave a comment telling me one of your favorite holiday cardmaking "go to's"; whether it's a specific brand or product, a favorite style of image, a never-fail color palette, or even the perfect playlist! comment as many times as you like, i'll announce a winner on the last day of this challenge, which is monday, july 30th!

be sure to head over to sos to help us celebrate challenge #400 and check out the rest of the design team's blogs this week. i cannot guarantee they will all have blog candy, but they will DEFINITELY all have inspiration! ♥

  5. I love your sweet Christmas card, Lauren. The poinsettia in the center gives such a FAB texture to your card. It's really lovely. Thanks for the inspiration, and for inspiring us on this 400th challenge. I had a lot of fun creating my card.

  6. Oh my goodness, this is one gorgeous card! I love the rustic texture on your floral embellishment, and brads are still a favorite of mine. As for my favorite holiday card go-to, that would be die cutting. I usually try to avoid too much intricate coloring so dies are a great alternative. Thanks so much for the chance to win this fun goodie pack

  7. What an amazing card! The papers coordinate so well with that beautiful poinsettia and I love the colorful background papers. My go-to is quick and easy, lol. I send mostly photo cards of my kids at Christmas, but for the ones I do make I try to keep them simple.

  8. This is absolutely gorgeous!!! Love the colors and papers, and those fabulous flowers!! It all goes to show that "older" can still be beautiful! I don't know that I have any Christmas go-to's necessarily. I make cards all through the year, so I use lots of different techniques, colors, images, etc. BUT, I do love to use images and sentiments that share the true meaning of Christmas if I can.

  10. This is stunning! I love the incorporation of pastel colors and that wonderfully textured flower. It was great reading your blog profile...you sound like lots of fun!!
My "go-to" is the stamp "Let every heart prepare Him room" paired with one of my many, many heart dies. I have some favorite sketches, and I love mint and pink for color combinations.

  11. I too love the colors of this Christmas Card and feel like if you change the sentiment it could be used for other things as well. For easy card makes I use pre-colored digis and I do make multiples, even one sheet wonders, when I need to build up my stash. I've also learned to make my cards flat if I'm going to mail them :) Thanks for the chance to win!

  12. Your card is just gorgeous! (And I still use brads! I have a whole drawer full of them). My go to if I need a quick card for Christmas is a blue & white color combo with snowflakes. Easy peasey!

  13. Wonderful card!! I esp love the texture of that wonderful burlap flower.
My go-to for making Christmas cards....impossible to say, because I use so many different things in my cardmaking. Maybe I am too ADD to stick to a single style. One thing that is consistent....I love to listen to Mannheim Steamroller Christmas albums while I craft in prep for the holidays....not so much in July, though. It has been Beach Boys, Monkees, and the Turtles for my Christmas in July cardmaking music. :)
Thank you for the chance to win your lovely stash-busting prize. You are so generous!!
