JB12-08: 'twas the sketch before christmas...

...and ♥miss amy's♥ in the house!!! by which i mean, of course, that we're having a sketch-based prompt this week at JINGLE BELLES and the sketch-mistress is none other than our lovely friend and loyal belle, the uber-talented amy tsuruta! can i get a "WAHEY"?! thank you! so let's get right to the sketch, shall we?

awesome, is it not? perfectly suited for a bit of minimal C&S awesomeness, eh? unless, of course, you are me... and then you'd probably go TOTALLY NUTSO in the other direction and come out with something a bit like this:

(vintage: holly leaves cut from an old ideals magazine; patterned paper: dcwv, bo bunny; velvet paper: sei; cardstock elements: fancy pants, crate paper, mme; epoxy rose: k and co; florals: prima; brads: we r memory keepers, doodlebug; ink: colorbox; border punch: recollections; adhesives: tombow monorunner, 3m foam tape, sewing machine)

yeah. the irony is (and i swear i am not makin' this up!!!) that i really, truly did set out with every intention of making a completely minimal, totally stripped down card, that encapsulated the beautiful bones of the sketch! if you pop over and have a look at miss stephanie's card this week, you will see what i was aiming for. but somewhere along the line-- or rather EVERYWHERE along the line-- i just kept adding little bits and bobs until it was even MORE "maximalist" than my usual type of thing! :) having said all that, i do love this card, and i think it's a fairly decent example of how a really good sketch can be adapted to suit anyone's style!!!

so g'head and add everything but the kitchen sink... or pare down to the barest of essentials... but grab your goodies and come make a sketch card with us and amy t at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥!
