Blue Christmas

It's time for a brand new prompt at Jingle Belles and this time, we're feeling BLUE. Or rather, we're feeling quite cheerful, but making holiday cards which are predominantly blue. And we'd love for you to join us! Here's what I made:

The only time I ever really long for snow is in the middle of a HOT and humid New Jersey summer, lol. And of course if you want snow at the beginning of August, you have to make it yourself, so I did! I used my Tim Holtz/Sizzix "Stacked Snowflakes" die to cut lots of layers of snowflakes from Prima's Geogia Blues collection. Then I stacked them with little slivers of foam tape between the layers for extra dimension. I had trouble finding a background paper that set the snowflakes off well enough, so I wound up making my own, from a piece of dark blue Core'dinations cardstock. I started with a fun and flakey embossing folder, sanded the impression to get some color variation, then added extra swirls of machine stitching. Finally, I affixed my fancy layered flakes, and finished off with some Eyelet Outlet pearl bling.

Stephanie also has a beautiful Blue Christmas card to show you. Why not head over to Jingle Belles and see that right now? ♥

  4. This card is stunning, Lauren. LOVE the deep navy and the fabulous design with texture. I got my goodies yesterday. The one thing that stood out the most to me was the 6x6 paper pad of Crate Paper Peppermint. I am SUCH a Crate Paper addict, I can't even begin to tell you! So that really caught my eye, and will be put to good use. In fact, one of the cards I entered in that 400th challenge (Christmas in July) was created using the Peppermint line. Anyway, thank you so much. We all need to use up our stash, even though between you and I...we both know that will never happen. While they keep making cute things we can't live without, we continue to purchase. The struggle is real, my friend. I get it!
