SOS567: Bent Out of Shape

For the brand new challenge at Shopping Our Stash we'd like you to make a Shaped Card, by which we mean no squares or rectangles allowed. But round, oval, diamond, hexagonal or... my personal fave... CUPCAKE-SHAPED are all excellent choices!

I don't use my Stephanie Barnard Cupcake Fold-Its die set often enough, but to compensate, whenever it's out, I rarely stop at one cupcake-shaped card. This time I made a trio of treatos, in appropriately cupcakey colors of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I used scraps for all of the layers except the cardbases, for which you actually need 4.5 x 12" piece of sturdy cardstock.

Holiday Shape Up!

It's the second week of "Shaping Up for the Holidays" at Jingle Belles and you're still invited to join the fun. Here's what I made this week:

I found a cute clipart hat online, printed a couple of copies on plain white cardstock so I could cut it into a pattern; then paper-pieced the hat, brim and bobble using two sizes of Lawn Fawn's Knit Picky papers. I had been planning to adorn the brims with brads, but stumbled upon these fun Doodlebug enamel leaves and berries and just like that, my choice was made!

Holiday Shape Up: Week 2

Cruising into the second week of our Holiday Shape Up festival at Jingle Belles for which, as you'll recall, we're making shaped cards. New Jersey is just one of the states currently under what the weather gurus are calling a heat dome, and the temps for the last 10 days have been in the mid-90's with humidity off the charts. So of course my first thought was to make MITTENS lol!

A few years ago I had downloaded a photo of a beautiful mitten-shaped card, printed it out on cardstock at 4x6" size, used it as a template and raided my stash of ancient Basic Grey holiday patterned paper to make THIS CARD. Luckily, I had saved the template and still had some nice big chunks of BG, so I'm back with the same idea... times two! Basic Grey flower layers, Recollections flair, scraps of felt  trimmings, 7 Gypsies velvet holly leaves, and a couple of buttons from my stash complete this pair of mixy-matchy mitten cards.

Hello, Sweetie!

This fortnight's challenge at Shopping Our Stash (#497) is called "You're So Sweet" and, as you may have guessed, we'd like to see cards and projects featuring sweets and treats, like ice cream, candy, fruit or maybe CUPCAKES?!

Several years ago, I was given this beautiful set of Stephanie Barnard oversized cupcake "Fold It" dies (the finished cards are just a hair under A2-sized) which I'm ashamed to say had not been used or even opened until now. Not sure HOW such a glaring oversight could've occurred... but I've made up for it by making THREE delicious cupcake cards using nothing but ancient patterned paper scraps, sparkly Eyelet Outlet Sequins and 1.5 sheets of kraft cardstock.
