it's a fact of crafty life...

...that the projects you like best always photograph worst. or at least, it's a fact of my crafty life, anyway. possibly because i loooooooove to use lots of shiny and reflective elements? on the other hand, to prove the universe has a sense of humor, i sometimes find that projects i don't care for at all wind up looking pretty fab online. and since this fact has helped me out more than once, i guess we'll call it even. just bear all of the above in mind when you see my card, and mentally give it 15-20% higher of a cool factor, k? thanks.

"muse" sticker: papaya art; patterned paper: pink paislee, k and co; tiny thin mats of silver glitter paper: best creations; white glossy cardstock: paper accents; flowers: prima, recollections; brad: my mind's eye; bling circle: (ancient) heidi swapp; circle punches: ek success; inks: colorbox chalk + ranger distress; adhesives: elmers brand gluetape, 3m foam tape, sewing machine

i spent an embarrassingly long time on this one, too; especially when you consider that i started with the current cardabilities sketch, so my job was kind of short-cutted from the jump.

i think it's a pretty good version of the sketch, though, and i'm especially proud of the swirls i sketched and stitched over and over on my sewing machine, using the highest possible number of stitches per inch so that the curves would be really smooth and tight. so let's give those guys a close-up:

yep, this one just doesn't really cut it, photographically, so i guess the only thing to do is go mail it to someone cool, right? off to the PO, darlings, ciao for now!♥

  1. Oooh, this IS fun!!! LOVE all that fun stitching, wow! I know what you mean about the photography. Though I am always pleasantly surprised at those that somehow look better once photographed, lol!
Hoping you've had a fabulous weekend!

  2. I thought of you when I saw this sketch! I loooove all the detailed stitching you've done. And yes, of course the camera makes our lives miserable. I'm still waiting to take a decent photo.

I have an idea for this sketch, too, but it's NOTHING like your interpretation! (duh)

  3. Me! I'm cool! Okay, I'm not cool. Really, I don't even make an effort to be. But, I am quite often cold. Can that count? ;-)

It's funny, I could have written that first paragraph myself. (In fact, I maybe have.) So I totally kwym.

I think your card is absolutely fantabulous! And the stitching - AH-MAZE-ING!

  6. If I gave this card a 15-20 percent higher rating, it'd be way way over 100 percent. I am reaaaalllly loving those stitched swirls. Who cares about that stinkin' camera anyway - keep piling on the glitter and reflective surfaces! You make gorgeous cards with them.
I wish I had an ounce of sewing ability, but after a rather unfortunate incident in high school home ec, I've sworn off the things. We were all tasked with making shorts for gym class and I chose a solar system pattern (which was cool back then). I was totally in love with them until someone yelled out to the entire class "I can see Uranus"....

  7. Seriously magical stitchy swirls (and I think the picture looks pretty darn cool, but I know from experience it looks even cooler in person) ... and Papaya! magic is always appreciated.
