if you're a bing crosby or jimmy buffet fan who hangs out at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ you probably already know that "mele kalikimaka" is hawaiian for "merry christmas". but don't panic because we're not asking you to make a full-on tropical-themed holiday card, we just want to see cards with flowers on them. poinsettias and roses --or whatever flowers you happen to love-- in their traditional colors will work just fine. of course, if you to just happen to WANT TO make a full-on tropical- themed holiday card, we definitely won't try to talk you out of it. btw, that's what i did! :)
well, yeah, we all know that i love hawaii and bright colors and flamingos*, so OF COURSE i was always going to go all the way on this one, right? i'm taking advantage of the fifth saturday scenario again to choose a sketch from the archive at sketch saturday, as well. i went with #249 this time.
stephanie has also made a gorgeous card to inspire you. why not visit ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ and check it out, darlings?
*technically speaking, flamingos are about as hawaiian as jerk chicken; which is to say not at all. they're actually more of an atlantic ocean bird: you can find them in florida, the caribbean, south america, and even western africa. as a matter of fact, the only flamingos in hawaii are at the zoo... but i love them and they look really cool on tropical cards, so let's just pretend this particular flamingo is on vacation, k? ;)
Super cute card, and your take on the theme. here's to getting my card in with more than 25 minutes to spare.
ReplyDeletethis is such fun and I am ready for an island visit.
