it's not overused, it's ♥RECYCLED♥!

ok, yeah, i make no secret of it, there are a few silly card motifs that i use over and over (and over!): best fishes is one of them. monstas are great for birthdays as well as christmas. and i can never resist a good pear anniversary pun. the proliferation of adorable camera-based imagery in the past few years has led me to making a number of belated birthday cards with "oh snap" as the sentiment, like this one and this one... and THIS new one right here:

patterned paper: basic grey, american crafts (dear lizzy and amy tangerine), echo park, creative imaginations; white glossy cardstock: paper accents; labels: dymo; ink: colorbox; adhesives: elmers brand gluetape, 3m foam tape, gluedots, sewing machine

i suppose i could apologize for making different versions of the same thing so often, but that would imply that i'm sorry, and/or that i intend to change. since neither happens to be true, i think we'll just skip it. this particular version of "oh snap" is for my brother-in-law, rich, whose birthday has pretty consistently been in january for as long as i've known him... (which is-- holy wow! 30 years!!!-- ok, i've totally freaked myself out by doing the math on that!) ...despite which, i'm not sure i've ever been on time for it. sorry, dude! if it's any consolation, feel free to tell everyone you're a year younger until the card comes, k?

i used this week's retro sketch (#149) to guide my placement; ok, yeah... as usual... i kind of put my own spin on the sketch. :)

in addition, the simon says stamp wednesday challenge is looking for guy cards this week:

Simon Wednesday Challenge Blog

speaking of guys and embarrassing neglect, lovely husband jeff recently reminded me that he had somehow still never seen nephew matthew's and my favorite film, despicable me 2, so i ordered a dvd and we watched it friday night. you know how sometimes you re-watch a movie and think, "why did i LOVE THIS so much?!" well, that totally did not happen at all with DM2, if anything i think i love it more now. of course, i've had the madly infectious pharrell williams' song "happy"* stuck on an un-ending loop inside my head ever since, but that's a small price to pay for true cinematic genius, right darlings?! ♥

*a song which happens to have perhaps the most joyfully catchy video ever made; if you've never seen it and you're in a place you can sing along and maybe dance a tiny bit without being fired or made the center of an intervention, i highly recommend you go watch it right now. if not, for pete's sake, DON'T CLICK THE LINK!!! :) :) :)

  1. Great card and I love the sentiment! So what if it is somewhat similar to something you've made in the past - if it ain't broke, don't fix it right??? I am not ashamed to say that I use fave sketches and sentiments over and over and over. Unless I am sick of them why should anyone else be? lol
Evidently, I am also rather guilty of missing certain people's bdays over and over, well maybe not missing, but almost always being late. In my case, it is also my brother-in-law whose bday lands smack at the very beginning of November - nearing the end, but not quite, of my crazy busy travel time and it doesn't help that it is on the 1st so unless I am realllllllyyyyy on the ball, I flip the bday calendar from Oct to Nov and voila, Adam's Birthday - duh! I think, I do this every year. I am proud to say though that somehow, I managed it on time this year and even made him a customized hockey card. All those years of guilt for sending belated cards must have built up to result in a nagging feeling that crept up at the right time to prompt me to get crafty, lol!
Oooops, I think I wrote you a novel!
    Shanna :)

p.s. Forgot to say on my earlier visit that of course you are welcome to CASE my snowman card - gotta love that Crate paper! I look forward to seeing your version!!! Bring it on! Hmmm, wouldn't it be a fun challenge if several people had the same patterned paper, to see how many unique versions would result...

  2. Let's make one thing clear: A good pun NEVER goes out of style! You make as many of these camera puns as you want and I will keep telling you how great they are (and meaning it!). Love the layers all up in that corner jammed together in their party.
