JB2518: Cardstock Christmas

This fortnight at Jingle Belles, we're celebrating Cardstock Christmas, which means we're asking you to step away from the patterned paper... (scary, I KNOW!!!) ...put it away, there's NONE allowed! We're creating cards using only cardstock. You can tear it, ink it, stamp it, spray it, emboss it … but stick to only cardstock for your holiday card design!

One of my favorite ways to make a fast, easy background is with Wendy Vecchi's Build a Plaid Layering Stencils from Spellbinders and her Ranger Archival Inks. In this case I used Carnation, Goldenrod, Mulberry and Fern Green. As I often do, I built my plaid on a diagonal, and at the end I added some gold pen lines as well as two coordinating (cardstock!) mats, plus some poinsettia and foliage diecuts from the Christmas Add-On set for Wendy's Not Your Ordinary Card Collection. I couldn't resist finishing off with a few white velvet holly leaves and some glittery gold enamel dots.

Bes sure to visit Jingle Belles to see Stephanie's beautiful card and to link up your own cardstock-centric masterpieces. JB2518: Cardstock Christmas runs until the evening of Wednesday, September 10th.

Holiday Jumpstart: Dressed to CHILL!

Holiday Jumpstart: Dressed to Chill is Paper Anthology's newest holiday card kit, which features an adorable diecut snowman, waving a happy holiday hello from the North Pole.

Paper Anthology’s Holiday Jumpstart Card Kit is our pre-packaged kit that includes everything you need (except adhesive) to complete FIVE copies of this new original holiday card design. This edition is called “Dressed to Chill” because the star of the show is a sartorial snowman, strutting his stuff.

Don’t we all adore the IDEA of making holiday cards throughout the year, instead being overloaded in November and December? But sometimes it’s hard to be inspired during the “off-season”. This pre-packaged kit features everything you need (except adhesive) to complete five adorable, colorful super-cool cards; including complete written instructions (not pictured, but included!) and a nice big photo for reference.

This kit contains:

Five sheet music panels
Five snowy postage-edged background panel pieces
Five handsome snowmen
Five sets of arms, cheeks, carrot noses and black backers for snowmen
Five sets of snowman clothing: 2-piece scarves and 3-piece hats
Five 3-piece North Poles (bases, stripes and caps)
Five green sentiment flags
Five white sentiment flag backers
Fifteen diecut snowflakes
Enough silver star sequins to adorn five cards
Complete step-by-step instruction sheet with large color photo
Five glossy white A2 cards

SOS555: On or In the Water

Time for a new challenge at Shopping Our Stash and thus, for "On or In the Water" we'd like to see cards and projects that feature (as you have surely guessed, lol) fish, boats, swimmers, swans, mermaids and the like; even buoys and gulls would qualify!

This card has a whole lotta (& a whole lotl) Lawn Fawn goin' on. The fish and turtle hail from Critters in the Sea; the sea horse and sentiment from Sea Horsin' Around; and the Axolotl (YES, they are real and yes, some of them are pink!) from the miniset I Love You a Lotl. Since I found a few of these adorable aquatic friends in with their sets which had already been stamped and cut out, I decided to stamp all of them on scraps of patterned paper; it's a little more work to fussy-cut, but there's no coloring involved so it sort of balances out. The "Best Fishes" sentiment was diecut from scraps of Photoplay's Tidepool paper using Altenew's lowercase Bold Alphabet set. Believe it or not, the blue background panel is SEI Twitterpated collection (circa... 2010ish?); the yellow layer is fairly new and is from Pinkfresh Studio.

SOS555: On or In the Water runs until the evening of Monday, September 8th. Be sure to check out the inspiring cards from the SOS Crew and then start planning your own watery wondrousness.

An Old-Fashioned Xmas

At Jingle Belles we're heading into the second week of The Spirit of Christmas Past, which means we're still creating cards with a vintage or retro feeling. That could mean incorporating actual vintage elements, using new products that have a vintage style, or using stamps or images that convey a vintage vibe; whatever says vintage/retro to you.

To add a little extra incentive to your endeavors, this fortnight we're sponsored by my very own Etsy Shop, Just Enough Stuff, so there's a Deluxe Christmas Ephemera Assortment of vintage holiday goodies for one lucky card member who links-up their vintage-inspired design.

This week I've got a background comprised of actual vintage bits (the vintage poinsettia illustration from an old Christmas Ideals Magazine, book paper, sheet music, etc) with a few images cut from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology Pocket Cards, a couple of golden rub-on transfers, some wordfetti stickers and coordinating washi tape. The frame is also TH/Idea-ology and it's surrounding a little vignette from Ideals. I inked the edges and machine-stitched the whole collage to a white 5.5" square card.

Be sure to check out Stephanie's card at Jingle Belles and take a look at the vintage holiday ephemera pack that one lucky random cardmaker will score this fortnight... just for linking up with us! JB2517: The Spirit of Christmas Past runs until the evening of Wednesday, August 27th.
