i know, i know, it's quite pared down isn't it? but i needed a somewhat minimalist guy card, for a somewhat minimalist guy, lol! by order of this week's challenge at shopping our stash we are "going green" for which you can either make a card which incorporates a recycled element (mine uses an old army green hanging file-- from which the hanger part had detached itself-- as both its base and the mat layer under the sentiment panel) or features the color green (i think that bit is fairly self-explanatory on my card!) or, of course, you could do BOTH!
(recycled: dark green hanging file folder; patterned paper: basic grey, 7 gypsies, echo park; alphas: making memories fabric letters, woodgrain thickers, jenni bowlin tiny type; ink: colorbox; adhesives: staples brand gluetape runner, 3m foam tape, sewing machine)
for my layout, i used this week's retro sketch, and pretty faithfully, at that!
thus i'm linking up with my lovely and uber-creative friends at opus gluei who are feeling a little sketchy this fortnight; and also with patrice's 52-card pick up, at the old back porch!
and now, i hope you will have a little look through your stash... and maybe also your TRASH? and then join us this week at SOS! ♥
check you out...where's the pink?! I LOVE what you've done with the file folder!
ReplyDeleteGuy cards really do turn our styles upside down, don't they? I have one to make this week — so I feel ya! :) I do like this!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect for a guy card...simply perfect! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou get a triple WOW on this stunning card! Why can't I even think to use stuff like that file to recycle!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!! So elegant looking!

ReplyDeleteToo cute! I love that you used the green folder- we have tons of those at work- might need to rescue a couple of the old ones!
ReplyDeleteoh dear, the dreaded simplified man card! lol I love the texture on the sentiment, especially those fabric letters :) Awesome recycling too!
ReplyDeleteI think this card is way-cool! Not too minimalist at all, IMO. Lucky guy, the one who gets this. Thanks for playing along with us at Opus Gluei, we always love to have you come on over! (And Gini is right, thanks for the sweet comment!)
ReplyDeleteOkay. WHO ARE YOU? And what have you done with the pink lady, Lauren??? If this card weren't so darn cool, I would send the police (or MIB) to make sure that you are you. I seriously love this card. Man cards are really hard to pull off this well. LOVE it. LOTS!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hangin' out with us at OPUS GLUEI. It's always such a thrill to see you.
This is fantastic and yes, a departure from the Lauren we all know and love - and this is inspiring! Talk about getting outside your comfort zone and doing so wonderfully! I love this, it's achieved what you wanted and is a great interpretation of the sketch!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kindness to OG, and for sharing your creativity with us! We love you over at OPus Gluei!
