that's what i had planned, actually; i went with the mother's day idea b/c that holiday is fast approaching, and i wanted to go verrrrrrrrrrrrry pink and frilly ('cause you know i LOVE THAT!) but then i found this lovely little tulip illustration in a vintage plant book, and i knew my MIL would adore it, so i built the rest of the card around that!
(vintage: tulips and text from a nature ephemera pack; patterned papers: pink paislee, american crafts and trimmings: seam binding, crate paper ruffles, and yellow lace are all leftovers from various pixie dust paperie kits; border & circle stickers: crate paper; muslin scallop trim: pink paislee; butterfly punches: martha stewart; kraft cardstock: hobby lobby; adhesives: tombow monorunner, scotch gluestick, 3m foam tape, sewing machine)
i used card patterns sketch #163, which is quite lovely, and looks a bit like this:
upon reflection it occurs to me that this is one of the most FAITHFUL sketch cards i've ever made... go, me!!! :)
do get yer "girlie card"--or mother's day mojo--on... and come link up with us at SOS this week! in the meantime, be sure to stop over and see what the DT have done, it's worth the trip, i assure you!
ETA tuesday afternoon:
this is why i should NEVER blog at the last minute, i'm an idiot! the other reason i chose those tulips is so i could play along with lovely laurel seabrook's "inspired by" challenge #21, for which this is the inspiration photo and we were allowed to use any aspect which appealed to us:
i apologize, miss laurel, i must've lost my mind for a minute there!!! ♥♥♥ btw, if you're not already reading laurel's awesome blog just for the gorgeous projects she makes (which you SHOULD!) i also have to tell you she has a tabbed section with links to ALL the big papercrafting challenge sites... AND THE DAYS they post; it's a ♥WONDERFUL♥ resource!
Lauren...it's absolutely stunning! Love the tulips and all those bright colors! A happy, fun, and beautiful card!

You rocked the minimalist on this one! You are my hero for all this cool vintagey stuff you find and actually USE on cards. :D
ReplyDeleteAhhh... pretty!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis could not be more BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteI agree - the comments are one of the most funnest parts!! I adore this card and LOVE that you found the image in a vintage book - I am always on the lookout for fun vintages books and love using old dictionaries etc. My children have caught onto this and we can often be found in the book section of the Thrift store searching for fun books - we have Way too many at home - always stacks everywhere, lol!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, so glad I found you, I'll be back,
Shanna :)
This is just beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!!! :)
ReplyDeletewell i am so glad to see i am not alone in the "lost mind" section! lol
oh i didn't notice laurel had that tab!! thanks so much for the info girl :)
gorgeous...love how you used those tulips!
ReplyDeleteLovely card! The vintage paper background contrasts with the bright tulips just wonderfully. By the by, I'm new to your blog and just want to say that I agree whole heartedly with your profile statement. I'm the same, more vintage paper than I can ever hope to use, but that doesn't keep me from buying more.
ReplyDeleteOh I just LOVE this!! Those TUlips are gorgeous. ;o) Love the colors here, too. So glad you could join us on Card Patterns this week!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card! Love the tulips and the colours of the card. Great take on the Card Patterns sketch!

ReplyDeleteThis card really caught my eye. Great idea, so creative! Hugs, Anna xxx
ReplyDeleteHave not made mother's day card yet. It is this weekend. In total panic mode. I'm a slacker. Love your card. Thanks for poking me with some incentive to get to cracking out something!!
