i told you the other day that my (kinda) pared down sketch card for this week's JINGLE BELLES + clean and simple stamping blog crossover was not my first attempt. would you like to see an even less C&S version that makes the one i used look totally minimalist in comparison??
ok, first, a reminder of what natasha's fabulous sketch looked like:
and now HERE is attempt #1... aka "lauren's bigtime C&S FAIL"!!!!!!!!!! :)
(vintage: sheet music and re-sized book illustration; patterned paper: tim holtz, cosmo cricket, dcwv; cardstock: core'dinations; stickers: little yellow bicycle; brad: we r memory keepers; florals: making memories; inks: ranger & colorbox; edge punches: recollections, martha stewart; adhesives: uhu gluestick, tombow monorunner, 3m foam tape; other: decorative scissors)
don't get me wrong, i actually really ♥LIKE♥ this card. but it's probably got a few too many patterns-- (big and busy ones, as well!) --to call it "clean"; and a few too many layers to call it "simple". however, since the point of the whole exercise is to A) try new things and B) make as many cards as possible before december... well, i think this constitutes a "win/win" situation!
head on over to JINGLE BELLES and the clean and simple stamping blog in the next day or so if you'd like to try your hand at a "clean and simple" sketch card... while you're there you can see stef's and natasha's cards... ANNNNND a picture of the *prize*!!! :)
You crack me up. yes this is far from "clean" and "simple" but.. it is FABULOUS!!! I love this one. It works so well from that sketch. I mean to take something like that sketch and come up with this is uber cool. I really like this card. I'm only at 15 cards at this point. I need to get moving!!
ReplyDeleteWell, perhaps it does not fit the definition of clean and simple perfectly, but it is PERFECT in EVERY other way! LOOOOOOOVE it!
ReplyDeleteYep, I've had CAS slip away from me too. Still a great card though.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's beautiful.... love all the patterns!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I too, STRUGGLE with CAS! I love to load my cards up with all kinds of goodies and layers, LOL ;) but I have to say, even though it may not be CAS, it IS GORGEOUS! Love that poinsettia and those fab layers :)
ReplyDeleteLove this! Yes, lots of pp, but they look great together!
ReplyDeleteHA! I'm glad someone else did the "too busy papers" thing on an earlier attempt. But you are so very CORRECT! One extra card for the collection! Whoot!
ReplyDeletehe he! love it. as you can imagine, my card didn't exactly fit the CAS criteria as strictly as it could but hey ho, that's the way it goes! LOL. Your card is gorgeous and I love all the patterns and elements you have used!! the holly paper is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt may not be clean and simple - but it is just gorgeous - I so wish I could make cards like this!! It's fab!
ReplyDeleteYe gotta be who ye are, dearie! This card proves it! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, this is just GOR-JUS!!! And while it may not be CAS, I would never EVAH call it a "fail" of any kind. It's just another Lauren stunner. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of this sketch is that it can be CAS or more, much more. I love your mixture of patterns.
