branching out

HOORAY for caardvarks challenges!!! yes, dearies, it's the 20th of the month, and just in time for earth day we have an appropriately green assignment: TREE CARDS!!! it doesn't get any easier than that, does it? just make a *new* card with a tree on it...link it up on the 'varks blog by midnight, april 30th...and score a chance at some fabulous goodies from taylored expressions!

here is my card:
(patterned paper: american crafts, crafty secrets, basic grey; cardstock: bazzill; stamps: hero arts all occasion sentiments; chipboard buttons: michaels $-spot; inks: colorbox; pens: zig & sharpie; adhesives: tombow mono adhesive runner, uhu gluestick, 3m foam tape)

my favorite part of this is the "grass" composed of curvy stamped bits, the idea for which i stole from this card by the amazing stef from the hero arts challenge! it took quite a while to line up all the individual sentiments to fit the correct size and shape needed for my "hills"... (not difficult, just "fiddly") ...but i felt like it was TOTALLY worth it even before i got a coveted, "that looks *COOL*!!!" from lovely husband jeff!

be sure to head on over to CAARDVARKS for complete details on the challenge (& prize!!!) and to see the amazing forest of terrific tree cards from the design team!

  3. That definitely looks COOL & fabulous, gorgeous and stunning :)
I love the idea for this challenge...especially since my new favourite stamp set is SU's Trendy Trees and the matching Funky Forest Wheel. I might just have to whip up something for this one tonight, seeing as there's nothing on TV anyway :) I want to be sure to get it done before the movers take away all my toys :)

  15. I actually knew how you did the words w/o reading your post...a technique I have been meaning to try *sigh*

I saw your card at the 'Varks earlier and I found myself scrolling and asking, "Where is Lauren's card? Where is Lauren's card?" Obviously they tried to save the best for the middle-end :)

I love the button-y tree leaves!!!
